Single Phase Smart Meter (PLC Mode)

Forward, reverse, net active energy, kvarh import/export, and four-quadrant kvarh measurements enable customer micro-generation sources and power quality monitoring. Tampering attempts are detected on cover removal and magnetic field presence. All events are detected and logged – even during power failures – and then securely communicated in a timely manner. Energy measuring technology is highly resistant to DC magnetic fields.

This gives unparalleled end-to-end visibility to the utilities into their distribution networks. Meets Indian BIS standards 16444 for Indian market.

Yes, both type of smart meters i.e. PLC mode and Cellular mode are meeting the requirements, which are there under BIS 16444 for smart meters and required as per RDSS Scheme for Utilities.

Average life of these smart meters is around 20 years, however warranty period is 5.5 years from the date of shipment, which can be extended for maximum 8 years. 

NES Technologies, PLC smart Meters, works as repeaters in a PLC MESH type architecture. PLC MESH is one of the very powerful feature of PLC based AMI, which Utilities can use to have a self-owned reliable AMI Network with almost zero-maintenance cost, and this can connect smart meters even in not much well-managed electrical networks or where wireless connectivity has challenges. The number of PLC Smart Meters per DCU depends on the meter density on DT and many other factors however it can be upto 500-600 per DT.

For urban areas like Delhi, Mumbai, Gurugram, Noida, Bangalore, Pune, Ahmedabad, Tier-1, Tier-2 and other metro cities, having high consumer density and better managed electrical infrastructure, PLC mode smart meters are much better option from any other mode meters, considering the high level of communication reliability, and almost negligible maintenance cost.
